WEATHERSFIELD, VT
Karen Yvette Barr, age 63, was born in Cambridgeshire England, the eldest of four children born to Leon "Shorty" Barr and Dorothy "Joan"(Yates) Barr of Proctorsville Vermont. She passed away Sunday evening, April 30 at her home after several years of successfully managing heart health.
Many came to know her charismatic personality through her long term employment as a Waitress at Idlenot Restaurant in the Springfield Plaza, which later became Friendly's. Later she worked at Downers Four Corner Store. Four wheeling, snowmobiling, sun worshipper, winter flip-flop wearer, elegant penmanship and a certain "spot on the hill" were just a few of her joys. She brightened everyone's doorway she graced with deep character, genuine love and spunk. Like her great grandmother Emma C. Barr, she was made of strong character and fierce love.
She is survived by many friends and family who loved her deeply, including her mother, Dorothy "Joan" Barr, her partner of 20 years, David Moore, and her two daughters, Heidi Adams and Melanie (Snide) LeBlanc, eight grandchildren, and one great grandson, her three siblings, Elaine (Barr) Stocker, Julie Barr and Tom Barr, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins from Ludlow, to Woodstock, to Newport, NH.
Calling hours will be at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, VT on Friday evening May 5, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Services will be held at the Brownsville Community Methodist Church in West Windsor on Saturday, May 6th at 11:00 AM. Rev. Christian Huebner will officiate. A potluck dinner for family and friends will follow in the church hall.
Her cremated remains will be laid to rest in the Ascutneyville Cemetery at a later date, followed by a small private Red Dress Memorial Ceremony at "the spot on the hill" near their residence.
Donations in her memory may be made to the West Weathersfield Fire Department at 7259 VT Route 131, Perkinsville, VT 05151.
