June Mary Allden Barr, born in Buffalo, New York, in June of 1928, passed away at Valley Terrace on March 18, 2023.  June and her older sisters, Patricia Kreppel and Alice Sturckler, were raised by her mother, Mary, and uncle, Patrick Cunningham, who joined the family from Ireland after her father's untimely death when June was a toddler. She always spoke about the tight-knit neighborhood where she grew up and told stories about her sisters and her large Irish extended family.

June went to Holy Angels Academy and attended Buffalo State University. She met her husband William "Bill" Barr at a high school dance. They eventually married and were together for 72 years. They had seven children and moved to Hanover, NH, in 1963. June and Bill remained devoted to each other until Bill passed away in 2021.

June was always busy caring for her large family and her community, yet she made it seem effortless. She was a sweet and gentle woman who endeavored to spread faith, hope and love to her family members and beyond.

June enjoyed time with her friends, joining them to ski, play card games and host holiday parties. For decades, vacations on Squam Lake were a summer highlight for all. At her large dinners, there was grace, loud conversation, abundant humor, and always room for more. She spent a lifetime holding up others whose hearts are now heavy without her strength, kindness and support.

June is survived by her children Margaret (Thomas Pyle), Kathleen, William (Kate Soule), Patrick (Diane McGrory), Colleen (Paul Bozuwa), Mary, John (Marion Hylan). She is also survived by her beloved 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren of whom she was very proud. In addition, she is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

June's family is extremely grateful to the wonderful staff for the incredible care she received at Valley Terrace in Hartford, VT, and for the knowledge and support from Bayada Hospice of Norwich, VT. There will be a private service for family at St. Denis Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, you may honor June's memory with a donation to The Upper Valley Haven.
