Juliette (Sora) Bonfiglio (b. 1925, Brooklyn NY), of Sarasota, FL (formerly of Hartland, VT; Baldwin, NY; and Richmond Hill, NY), passed away on March 27, 2015 after a long illness. Julie leaves her sons Joseph of Madeira Beach, FL; Robert (wife Catherine) of Geneseo, NY; and William, of Sarasota, FL; grandchildren Michael of Brooklyn, NY; Anne of Buffalo, NY; William of Ames, IA; and Robert of Oberlin, OH, and Lea Bonfiglio Kramer (husband Brian) and great grandson Aiden Kramer of Pennsburg, PA.
Julie was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Joseph Bonfiglio, principal owner of the women's coat manufacturer Jay Bee Coat Company (NY) and veteran of the Army Air Corps; mother and father Mary (Cuda) and Paul Sora; sisters Virginia DiBernardo, Mary Suriano, Elena Tinghitella; and brother Anthony Sora.
Fervently devoted to her family, her faith, and her community, Julie was an active volunteer for St. Christopher's Church (Baldwin), the Coma Recovery Association (LI), and the Hartland Public Library (VT). She also worked for many years in customer service for the New York Telephone Company in Rockville Centre, NY.
A voracious reader, a lifelong learner, and a progressive thinker, Julie's undaunted perseverance in the face of adversity, and her love of literature, music, and family gatherings with gustatory delights all live on in her children and grandchildren.
Family and friends wishing to commemorate a life well lived are encouraged to make a donation in her name to the Hartland Public Library, P.O. Box 137, Hartland, VT 05048; Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center, 289 County Rd. Windsor, VT 05089; or Planned Parenthood.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date, and Julie will be laid to rest next to her husband Joe at Mount Olivet Cemetery in White River Junction, VT.
