Obituary

Joyce Ordinetz, longtime resident of Springfield, VT passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023, at the age of 95. She was born Joyce Mary Goltz on January 8, 1928, in Medford, Massachusetts to Mary (Lovell) and Zigmund Goltz. She moved to Springfield in the mid-1930s where she was raised by her grandmother, Lucy Lovell. Joyce graduated from Springfield High School as part of the class of 1945. Upon graduation, she began working at Fellows Gear Shaper, where she was employed for most of her working career serving as an Executive Secretary to the manager of Industrial Relations, and as supervisor of Personnel Administration, retiring in 1987. She married Tony Ordinetz of Springfield on October 8, 1949, and together raised four children, enjoying 53 years together until his passing in 2002.

Even in retirement, Joyce was not a woman who sat still easily. She took on the role of Executive Secretary for Southeast Vermont Corp for several years and served as a volunteer at the Great Hall Museum. A strong believer in reading and education, she volunteered for many years for the Adult Basic Education program and as a reading support person at Union Street School, as part of the America Reads program. She earned her associate degree in business from Community College of Vermont.

Joyce enjoyed gardening, and had an avid interest in genealogy, spending many hours researching and documenting her family tree, as well as reaching out to newly discovered relatives.

She was predeceased by her husband, Tony, her son, Terry, and her sister, Gloria Weeks. She is survived by daughters, Vickie Neiduski and husband Gary, of West Windsor, daughter, Sue and partner John Copoulos, of Springfield, son, Steve and his wife Christine, of Dalton NH, her granddaughter, Rachael Spydell and husband Rusty, of West Windsor, daughter-in-law, Eileen Ordinetz of Warners, NY, and several nieces and nephews.
