HARTLAND, VT
Joyce E. Herschel, 70, a longtime resident of Hartland, passed away early Wednesday morning, April 29 at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor.
She was born July 20, 1944 in Hartland. She received her schooling in Hartland and Windsor and graduated from Windsor High School in 1962. She married Richard Herschel in Hartland on July 23, 1963. Joyce was employed at the former Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Windsor and later worked as an office manager for several area businesses. She most recently was employed by Lane Construction of Meriden, CT until her retirement.
She enjoyed quilting, baking, gardening and bird watching. She was especially fond of spending time with her family and greatly enjoyed her solitude. Mr. Herschel passed away on June 17, 2013.
She was also predeceased by her parents and one brother, Ronald Damon.
Survivors include four sons, Lincoln Herschel of Carmel, ME, Todd Herschel of Troutman, NC, Mark Herschel of Hartland, VT and Greg Herschel of Windsor, VT, one sister, Mary King of Hartland, one brother, Steven Damon of Hartland, seven grandchildren, Ryan, Eric, Nick, Travis, Anna, Lincoln, Jr. and Kaycee Herschel, two great grandchildren, Ava and Bentley Herschel.
At Mrs. Herschel's request there will be no formal services. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
The Knight Funeral Home in Windsor is entrusted with the arrangements.
