Joshua Scott Rice

Joshua Scott Rice, 20, died unexpectedly Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
Josh was born December 8, 1991 in Lebanon, NH the son of Jeffrey S. Rice and Tracy S. Hubbard. He grew up in Sharon and attended the Hartford High School and the South Royalton High School. When he turned eighteen he joined the Vermont National Guard and completed his high school diploma through the Patriot Academy in Butlerville, Indiana. He was proud to be a member of the guard. Josh played sports throughout this life from school teams to the occasional pick up games with his older brothers. He had an exceptional love for basketball. Josh was loved by anyone he encountered, and especially loved by his family and friends. Hew was a spirited person. When Josh walked into a room you knew he was so full of energy, so full of life. The kind of person you wanted to be around. In his short twenty years he experienced more than most people experience in a lifetime. He lived his life to the fullest every minute of every day. He made it through so much with is head held high. He was a true soldier. And this soldier is now at peace.
He is predeceased by his brother Tyler Fred Rice who died in 1993.
He is survived by his mother, Tracy S. Skinner of Tecumseh, Kansas, his father, Jeffrey S. Rice of Sharon/Hartford, VT, three brothers, Paul of Randolph, VT, Christopher of Nashua, NH, Daniel of Sharon/Hartford, VT., his paternal grandparents, Gary and Kay Rice of Windsor, VT, his maternal grandparents Fred and Carol Hubbard of Tecumseh, Kansas, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, three nieces and two nephews.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home, Thursday evening, August 30, from 6-8PM. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, August 31, at 1 PM at the Sharon Congregational Church in Sharon, VT.
