Brownsville, VT- Joseph R. Ouelette, 93 died Monday, October 10, 2022 at his home with his family by his side. Joe was born February 17, 1929 in Greenville, NH, a son of William and Leah (Jacques) Ouellette.

He grew up in Claremont, NH and attended St.Mary's School in Claremont. Joe known as "Bobby" at the time worked odd jobs around Claremont until reaching an age where he could join the Army. Joe served during the Korean War and was stationed in West Germany. He was married to Pauline Dow in 1951 in Claremont, NH, and they later made their home in Brownsville.  He continued to serve in the Army Reserves retiring after twenty years of service. He also worked as a parts man for Ford Motor Company at the local dealerships. Joe was a founding member of the West Windsor Volunteer Fire Department where he served for over fifty years. Joe enjoyed working on puzzles and in that spirit, he enjoyed tinkering on small engines. There often was a puzzle to be solved when diagnosing them.

He is preceded in death by a son Thomas Ouelette, six brothers and a sister.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Pauline Ouelette; a daughter, Bonnie Niles of Danby, VT; two sons, Jerry Ouelette of Brownsville, VT and William Ouelette of Weathersfield, VT eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A sister Doris Winot of St. Johnsbury, Vt, and a brother-in-law David Dow of Hartland, Vt.

A graveside service will be held at 10am on Friday, October 21, 2022, at the Sheddsville Cemetery in Brownsville, VT. Friends of Joe are invited to join the family after the graveyard service for coffee and light refreshments at their home/ backyard in Brownsville, Vt. With COVID continuing to circulate, we ask everyone to be thoughtful. Friends are also welcome to visit Polly and the family over the following weekend.
