WEATHERSFIELD, VT
Joseph R. "Bob" LeCouffe, 69, a resident of Weathersfield passed away peacefully Monday evening, March 22, at the Veterans Hospital in White River Jct.
He was born September 6, 1940 in Windsor the son of Joseph J. and Dolores (Robert) LeCouffe. He received his schooling in Windsor where he attended Windsor High School. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam War era as a sharp shooter on a guided missile site in Manchester, Connecticut from 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1962. He married Joan M. Hannah in Windsor on May 23, 1959. They divorced in 1971. He was employed at Joy Manufacturing in Claremont for several years. He moved to Lebanon in 1962 where he was employed at Singers Sewing Machine. He helped clean out merchandise at local businesses during the 1964 Lebanon fire. In 1967, he transferred to Singers in Laconia where he was store manager. In 1970 he worked as an appliance salesman at the former Grant's Department Store in West Lebanon. He married Randa Clemens in Windsor on October 10, 1972. They divorced in 2007. He was later employed at Maynard's Auto Supply in Windsor and at the Brownsville Garage in West Windsor. In 1988, he began working as a security guard at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center until his retirement in 2003.
He was a lifetime member and Past Commander of American Legion Post #25 in Windsor, a member of DAV and the Moose Lodge in Springfield, VT. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor where he was a member of the Knight's of Columbus Father Fontaine Council #2832.
He enjoyed hunting, football, and baseball. He was an avid Nascar Racing fan, and his favorite driver was Richard Petty. He also raced on dirt tracks as a hobby. He loved watching John Wayne movies, and enjoyed Elvis Presley music. He enjoyed singing and in the 1970's he sang with Ray Sanville in the Granite Mountain Band.
He was predeceased by his father in 2000 and his mother in 1981, and a great grandson Hunter Allen Taylor in 2002.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Baker and her husband Robert of Springfield, NH, and Laura Holland and her husband Jeff of Lebanon, NH, four sons, Dennis LeCouffe and his wife Leona of Windsor, Mark LeCouffe and his wife of Scarboro, VA, Joseph LeCouffe of Concord, NH and Girard LeCouffe of Weathersfield, VT, two sisters, Lorraine Trudel of Bradenton, FL, and Nola Dunn and her husband Richard of Windsor, thirteen grandchildren, Jennifer Taylor, April Simoneau, Carrie Findley, Jessica Fish, Stephanie Fish, Mark LeCouffe, Jr., Laura LeCouffe, Dennis LeCouffe, Jr., Robert LeCouffe, Anthony Fish, Jr., Kym LeCouffe, Jolene Holland, and JJ LeCouffe, four step grandchildren, Adam Baker, Kayla, Dawn and Dora Pollard, thirteen great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins, and a very special niece, Barbara Boudro and her husband John and their daughter Stephanie, his great niece, whom he truly appreciated as neighbors to call on.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor on Friday evening, March 26 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 27 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor. The Rev. Rene Butler, M.S., Pastor will be the Celebrant. Committal services will be held in the Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph at a later date.
