White River Junction, VT- Joseph G. Fitzgerald, 88, died Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Lebanon Center Genesis in Lebanon, NH.

Joe was born May 22, 1933, in North Cambridge, MA, a son of William and Cathleen (Lahay) Fitzgerald. He grew up in North Cambridge and graduated from St. John's High School. Joe attended Mount St. Charles Seminary in Woonsocket, RI, and St. Michael Seminary in Conscious, NY where he became a brother and farmed for fifteen years. He left the brotherhood to become a full-time farmer in upstate New York, Girard, PA and was a dairy farmer in Granby, QC, Canada before returning to North Cambridge. He was married to Cathleen DiPietro June 9, 1968 in Belmont, MA. They made their home in Framingham and he worked for Pittsburg Plate Glass for eleven years. He worked for a time at Polaroid in the camera department before going to work as a machine operator in Waltham, MA for five and a half years.   They also lived in Bellingham, MA and Woonsocket, RI, where he worked at Woonsocket Glass and Mirror retiring in 1995. They later moved to White River Junction, VT where they have lived since. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Plainfield, NH.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife Cathleen in 2009; three brothers James and Edward and William Fitzgerald; and a sister S. Margaret Fitzgerald.

Joe is survived by two daughters Cathi Jo Goodwin of Massachusetts and Joy Prior of Hartland, VT

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in the Hartford Cemetery in White River Junction, VT.
