Obituary

White River Jct., VT – Joseph L. Boucher Jr., 80, died Wednesday afternoon, October 18, 2017, at Mt. Ascutney Hospital in Windsor, VT. He was born January 4, 1937 in Lebanon, NH the son of Joseph L. and Rose Yvonne (Lambert) Boucher. He grew up in Lebanon, NH and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1956. He worked for a time at Williams Laundry in West Lebanon, NH. On February 7, 1959 he married Martha A. Roberts. They made their home first in Hartford, VT and then later in Lebanon, NH before they moved to North Carolina while Joe was serving with the National Guard. When he completed his duties with the National Guard, he reenlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Germany for three and half years. After the service he and Martha returned to the Upper Valley and lived in Hartford for a time before moving to Quechee, VT. They lived there for over thirty-five years. Joe worked delivering milk for Billings's Dairy before going to work at Swift Meat Packing Company. Later he worked for Cross Company in White River Jct. and then finally at the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River Jct., VT where he worked in Grounds and Transportation. He retired in 1998 after twenty-eight years of service.

He was a member of the Hartford Elks Lodge, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Knights of Columbus and St. Anthony's Church all in White River Jct., VT. Joe enjoyed fishing, puttering in his garage and camping especially at their favorite campground, Kampersville in Salisbury, VT on Lake Dunmore. He and Martha were members of the Twin State Squares, and square danced all over the Upper Valley region. They also belonged to several couples bowling leagues. Most of all he and Martha loved spending time with their family especially the grand and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of White River Jct., VT, a daughter, Cheryl Clark and her husband, Gig of White River Jct., VT, and a son, David Boucher and his wife, Ellen of Phoenix, AZ, five grandsons, Frank, Justin, Bobby, Kevin and Christopher, eleven great grandchildren, Atoli, Joshua, Hayden, Aryia, Elliot, Sam, Selah, Ephraim, Fox, Daphne and Tanner. He is also survived by two brothers, James and Gerard Boucher both of Lebanon, NH as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
