Quechee, VT – John Ernest Worden, 70, died at the Springfield Health and Rehab Center on January 14, 2024, following a brief illness. He was born on December 9, 1953, in Woodsville, NH to Shirley B. Worden and Ruth E. (Curtis) Doyle-Worden.

John attended Mascoma Valley Regional Highschool, class of 1972. He then went on to join the Airforce and was stationed in New Mexico. After his military service, John returned to the Upper Valley, and after a few years, went to work with a longtime friend, Donald Roberts. John and Don worked together for over 40 years in Enfield as cabinet makers, up until John's retirement three years ago. His cabinet making talent was like no other.

John seemed to have a meaningful connection with nature. He was an avid hiker, specifically enjoying the Kinsman trail and Moosilauke range. Later in life, John spent a lot of his time birdwatching at his home. He could identify and differentiate between all five of the ravens that came to visit him and his bird feeder daily. He could explain how each raven had their own unique personality. Woodchucks would sunbathe and nap on the porch and even bears would stop by and visit John.

John was preceded in death by his father Shirley and mother Ruth. He leaves behind a sister Maureen Brockway and husband Dale of Quechee, VT, a brother Tim Worden and wife Judith, of Minot, ME, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A private scattering service will be held at one of John's favorite hiking spots later this year.
