John Wayne Patterson, 79, died Monday October 18, 2021, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born February 27, 1942, in Hanover, NH a son of Clifford and Loretta M. (Broggie) Patterson. John spent his youth in Hartford Village, graduating from Hartford High School Class of 1960. Immediately after high school he began his forty-year career at the US Postal Service in White River Jct. retiring in 2000. John was married to Terri McLoud on April 16, 1966, in White River Jct. where they made a home and raised their two children.
Most of all John enjoyed quality time with his family especially his grandsons, but also enjoyed attending sporting events at Hartford High School, motorcycle trips including trips to Maine, Georgia, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, golfing with his buddies, John McKinney and Larry Vincent, cross country skiing, gardening, and fishing.
John was a former member of the Hartford Volunteer Fire Department, the postal service bowling league and the LawMac softball team.
John's family is grateful for the wonderful care he received over the past year and a half from Cornerstone Care and also the entire Bayada team.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Terri; son, John W. Patterson II, daughter, Kristy Cate all of White River Jct.; grandsons Elijah Cate, Brad Patterson, and Jasper Cate; sisters Susan Stanford (Ray) of Enfield, NH, and Carlene Greenwood (Jim) of Townsend, MA; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Twiss (Fran) and Priscilla Hardwick as well as many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. on Friday October 22 nd from 4-7PM. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

There will be a Celebration of John's life on Saturday, June 25, 2022 from 12:30-3PM for all of John's family and friends at the home of his wife, Terri, at 158 Hanover Street in White River Junction.
