Morgan, VT — John David Stevens, 68, died Monday, March 23, 2026, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH, following a brief illness.

John was born on October 12, 1957, in Newport, VT, a son of Ronald and Ethelyn (Griffin) Stevens. He graduated from North Country Union High School in 1975. Following graduation, he joined the United States Navy, where he served proudly for four years before receiving an honorable discharge.

After his military service, John moved to Texas, where he met his future wife, Lisa Matson. They were married in 1997 in Morgan, Vermont, and made their home in Watauga, Texas. In 1999, they returned to Vermont, where they started their family. John worked for many years as an office machine repairman until his retirement in 2024.

John was a member of the Holland Community Church in Holland, VT. He enjoyed woodworking, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family.

He was predeceased by three siblings, Bill, Martin, and Candice.

John is survived by his wife, Lisa Stevens of Morgan, VT; his son, Jason David Stevens of The Colony, TX; his daughters, Emma Marie Stevens of Hillsboro, NH, and Sarah Elizabeth Stevens of Burlington, VT; his grandson, Ryder Stevens; his siblings, Ronald Stevens Jr., Jay Stevens, Lynn Potvin, and Karen Malnati; and a close family friend, Brenda Whitehill of Claremont, NH.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at Holland Community Church in Holland, Vermont, on June 20, 2026. Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction has been entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed in an online guestbook at www.knightfuneralhomes.com
