WINDSOR, VT
John M. Lynch, 90, a longtime resident of Windsor, passed away Tuesday morning, July 25 at the Cedar Hill Healthcare Center in Windsor.
He was born August 17, 1926 in Holyoke, MA the son of John Francis and Zelma (Badger) Lynch. He received his schooling in Holyoke and graduated from St. Jerome's Catholic High School in 1944. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving during World War II. Following his honorable discharge he returned to Massachusetts. He later attended St. Michael's College in Winooski, VT where he met Jeannette Dufresne. They were married in Williston, VT on June 13, 1954 and moved to Windsor in 1957. Mr. Lynch was employed by the Windsor School District for thirty five years, teaching Business and Accounting at Windsor High School, where he touched the lives of hundreds of students. He retired in 1992.
John was a longtime active member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Father Fontaine Council. He also served as Auditor for the Town of Windsor.
He was fond of playing cards and raising bees and was very proud to have built the family home in Windsor with his wife. He also enjoyed maintaining the apartment houses that he and his wife owned, as well as traveling. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
His wife passed away on March 11, 2013. He was also predeceased by his parents and by one brother and one sister.
Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia J. Koch and her husband, Carl, and one son, John P. Lynch, all of Windsor, three grandchildren, Valerie Koch and Paul Michael Koch of Windsor, and Thomas Lynch of Bellows Falls, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be Sunday evening, July 30 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, July 31 at 11:00 AM at the St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor. Rev. Charles R. Danielson, Pastor, will be the Celebrant. Committal services with military honors will follow in the St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery. A reception for family and friends will follow at the church hall.
