Wilder, VT-John Richard Kreider 65, beloved husband, father, and friend passed away suddenly on Wednesday May 19 th , 2021 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH, due to long-standing cardiac issues.
John was born on March 28, 1956 in Boston, MA, the eldest son of Donald and Mary Ellen (Galebach) Kreider. He grew up in Norwich, VT, with his brothers, Paul, David, and Greg (Long). Paul and Tawn Kreider reside in Oregon; David and Kathy Kreider reside in Massachusetts; and Greg Long resides in New Jersey. John graduated from Hanover High School before continuing his education at Dartmouth College, where he served as President of the Tabard Fraternity, graduating with the class of 1978. His first position after graduating was as manager of the Norwich Inn where he met his wife Vickie Baird, whom he married in South Royalton, VT, on April 26, 1980. John and Vickie raised their three children, Sarah, Mary, and Harry in the Upper Valley area, and in central Vermont. Sarah and Joshua Coiner reside in Virginia with their three children: Garner, Maggie, and Alice. Mary and Dr. Nicholas Laffely reside in Utah with their three sons: Benjamin, William, and Peter. Dr. Harry Kreider and his wife Sara reside in North Carolina with their four children: Molly, George, Ruby, and Charlie.
John worked in the financial services industry before founding CarePro with his wife Vickie in 2006.
John's faith was important to him. He and his family have been active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. In over 40 years of membership, he served in many leadership roles, including presiding as Bishop of the South Royalton VT ward, and traveling with the High Council.
John was a gentle, quiet, and intelligent man with a wonderful sense of humor who will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
A celebration of John's life will be held on July 10, 2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints 667 Dartmouth College Highway, Lebanon, NH 03766 at 2pm. All are welcome.
