John A (Jack) Camp

Hanover, NH - John A (Jack) Camp, 71, died Thursday September 26th at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.

He was born April 16, 1942 to Earl and Lillian (Linthwaite) Camp in Hanover, NH. He grew up in Etna Village where the Camp family had settled since the mid 18th century.

Jack graduated from Lebanon High School class of 1961. He worked on his cousin's farm in Hartford Vermont through his high school years and beyond. After his marriage June 30, 1967, to Susan Adams also of Hartford, he embarked on an interesting career path. He worked for Oxygen Welding Supply in White River in sales and service. He always had an entrepreneurial spirit so generally had a second business for he and his wife to work together. Included, was a long standing antiques and collectibles business, a large firewood operation, a residential cleaning and a caretaking service. In addition he managed a large apartment complex in Lebanon, NH from 1988 until 2008. He also worked at Quechee Gorge Village antique mall for several years and was a knowledgeable resource for both buyers and dealers. His sense of humor and quick wit will long be remembered by all those he touched over the years.

After retiring in 2009 he assisted Susie in her errand and driving business.

In addition, Jack coached Little League in Hartford for several years, lead gardening and animal husbandry projects for the 4-H in the Jericho district. He was a past exalted ruler of Hartford Elks Lodge #1541, 1973-74. He was also a Jaycee in the White River Jct. area for several years. He and Susan fostered several children at their home on the Jericho Road as well as hosting 9 young ladies from Japan who came to Dartmouth to learn English in the 1980's.

Jack is survived by his wife, Susie of Hanover; two brothers, Ronald of FL and Wendall of Southern NH as well as three nephews and a niece.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
