John Ross Hunt
Hartland, VT- John Ross Hunt, 73, died Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
John was born October 31, 1940 in Windsor, VT, son of Kenneth R. and Mae E. (Burke) Hunt. He grew up on the family dairy farm on Hunt Road in Windsor, VT before the family moved to Hartland Four Corners. He attended Windsor High School before taking over the family dairy farm in Hartland, later expanding the operation to include maple sugar farming.
John was a hard worker with a contagious laugh who enjoyed working the family dairy and maple farm with his son, brothers and nephews. He was a kind and thoughtful man who shared his farming experience and knowledge with local children through the 4-H program where he specialized in teaching farm and equipment safety. He was a loyal John Deere enthusiast and purchased their equipment exclusively. He loved to spend time in the woods hunting, fishing, and with his family - to whom he was extremely loyal and devoted. John and his beloved dog, a yellow lab named Tana, were often spotted at the village store Mike's where he could be found laughing and sharing stories with other locals.
John will be deeply missed by his loving wife and best friend of 43 years Barbe Hunt of Hartland, his daughter Megan Charlesworth, her husband Stephen and their daughter Naomi of Bloomington, IN, his son Mitchell Hunt, his wife Heidi Eames and their children Silas and Ida of Craftsbury Common, VT, his brother Peter Hunt of Hartland, sister Janice Rowell of Hartland and sister Jackie Connolly and her husband Dennis of Windsor, and several nieces and nephews.
