ASCUTNEY, VT
John G. Hickey, 59, a resident of Ascutney, passed away Monday morning, April 25, at the Cedar Hill Healthcare Center in Windsor.
He was born August 4, 1951 in Springfield, VT the son of William E. and Gloria (Frazier) Hickey. He received his schooling in Springfield, Vermont graduating form Springfield High School in 1969. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam War. He married Susan A. Burroughs in Windsor on October 7, 1972. Following his honorable discharge in 1977, they moved to Reading, VT and later to Ascutney. He was employed at Bryant Grinder Machine Tool in Springfield and most recently at the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River as an accounts receivable clerk, until his medical retirement in 1989.
John was fond of spending time outdoors, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking.
He was predeceased by his parents and one sister, Patricia Ann Biathrow in 1993.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Hickey of Ascutney, two sons, Chad Z. Hickey and his wife Jody Smith-Hickey of Cut Bank, Montana, and Johnathan E. Hickey of Windsor, two brothers, Bruce Hickey of Windsor and Howard Hickey of Reading, one sister, Susan M. Hickey of Rutland, VT, several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor on Friday evening, April 29, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. The funeral service will begin at 7:00PM with the Rev. Rick Blaisdell, Pastor of the Renewed Life in Jesus Church in Rockingham, VT.
