White River Jct., VT – John David Grant, Sr. died peacefully at his home early Wednesday morning, December 29, 2021. He was born February 26, 1946, in Hanover, NH the only child of John C. and Lucille (Lucas) Grant.
John grew up in the Upper Valley area and graduated from Lebanon High School. Following graduation, he began his lifelong career as an autobody specialist. His first job was with Gateway Motors in White River Jct., VT. He later moved to Lester's Chevrolet where he worked for several years before starting his own Autobody business, Grant's Autobody in Plainfield, NH. John built a reputation throughout the Twin States as one of the best body man/painters in the region. After closing his own shop, he finished his career back at Gateway Motors, retiring after ten years of service.
John was a car enthusiast and enjoyed traveling/cruising to area car shows with his 36 Buick street rod. In his earlier years he also enjoyed fishing and snowmobiling.
He is survived by his son, John D. Grant Jr. of West Lebanon, NH, his daughter, Julie Ann Grant of White River Jct., VT, two granddaughters, Amber and Jasmine, his special friend and companion of the last few years, Nancy as well as his many friends he had made through his body shop business and car shows.
A graveside service will be held later in the summer at the Pine Knoll Cemetery in Hanover, NH.
