Hartland, Vermont – John Scott Dunn, 89, died Friday morning, October 20, 2023, at Cedar Hill Healthcare in Windsor, VT.

John was born May 31, 1934, in Cleveland, OH, the son of William and Dorothea (Foye) Dunn. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1952 at the age of 17 and served during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning from his military service, John began work at Remington Rand, where his mother worked, and then for a time as a carpenter for his stepfather. He later attended the police academy and served on the Bridgeport Police Department in Connecticut for over twenty years.

John married Dolores Lampart Brown at the Second Baptist Church of Bridgeport on June 30, 1974; she was his steadfast supporter during his career in law enforcement and they fell in love with Vermont together. After John retired from the police department in 1982, John and Dolores moved to Vermont, built their home in Hartland, and enjoyed spending their free time on the beautiful property.

John leaves his beloved wife Dolores (Lampart) Brown Dunn of Hartland, VT, stepson Paul Brown and step grandson Benjamin Brown, both of Bloomington, IN, and his always composed and devoted cat, Sammy.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull, CT. Memorial donations may be made to the Upper Valley Humane Society, 300 Old Rte. 10, Enfield, NH 03748
