Obituary

White River Jct., VT – John P. Bomhower, 91, a life long resident of Christian Street in White River Jct., died Thursday January 21, at Brookside Nursing Home.

He was born October 5, 1924 in White River Jct. the son of John L. and Martha Mary (Stone) Bomhower. John graduated from Hartford High School class of 1943 and served in the US Army during World War II as a military police officer. After his discharge he studied carpentry and cabinet making at the St. Johnsbury Trade School. He began his career at Renehan–Akers in White River Jct. where he worked for twenty-two years. He later worked for Melvin Young, Law-Mac Builders and Trumbull-Nelson for the last nine years of his career before retiring in 1989.

John was a life member of American Legion Post 26 in White River Jct. and enjoyed fishing, golf and gardening.

He was predeceased by a brother Richard Bomhower and is survived by, two sisters, Eva Cavanaugh and Margaret B. Thurston both of White River Jct.; a brother Harold Bomhower of Lebanon, NH; a sister in law Joan Bomhower of White River Jct. as well as several nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held later at the convenience of the family in the Christian Street Cemetery.
