Joan G. Miller, 85, a longtime resident of Windsor, passed away Sunday evening, June 17, at her home in Windsor.
She was born September 20, 1932 in Rockingham, VT the daughter of Willard and Ada (Noyes) Clough. She received her schooling in Alstead, where graduated from Vilas High School in 1953. After graduating she moved to New York City to begin her baby nurse training at St. Mary's Hospital. She married William Miller in Alstead in 1956. She received her medical aid training in 1980. She and her husband moved to Vermont in 1981. Mrs. Miller was employed as a private Nanny for Ronald and Nancy Liston's children, Scott, Robin and Alex, in Windsor and later in Plainfield, from July of 1983 until her retirement in 1998.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Anchor Chapter #607 in New York City and of the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Windsor. She enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family. Mr. Miller passed away in 2014.
She was also predeceased by her parents, one son, Thomas Miller, her stepfather, Frank Moulton, three brothers, Roderick Clough, Richard Clough and her twin, John Clough, three sisters, Katherine LaMunyon, Viola Banks, and Elizabeth Peck.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol A. Miller and her companion, Michael Mason of Springfield, VT and Patricia Miller of Windsor, one sister, Kathleen Newlan of Keene, NH, four grandchildren, Jennifer Curry of Scarborough, ME, Kristin Baird of Hartford, VT, Seth Mumblo, currently stationed at Fort Jackson, SC and Raymond Sherwin of Windsor, two great grandchildren, Jolie Hawk of Hartford, VT and Anastasia Mumblo of Georgia, and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Friday, June 22 at 11:00 AM in the Saxtons River Cemetery in Saxtons River, VT. Rev. Paul Voltmer, Pastor of the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Windsor, will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield Humane Society at 401 Skitchewaug Trail, Springfield, VT 05156.
