Obituary

Cornish, NH – Jill Mary Flanagan Goulet Lord, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Cornish, NH in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 17, 2024. She was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and reunited with her Heavenly Father and the Holy Spirit.

Jill was born on June 19, 1953, in Carlisle, PA, to Robert J. and Agnes Ellen (McKenzie) Flanagan. She graduated from Rice memorial High School in Burlington, VT in 1971 and pursued higher education at the University of Vermont, where she majored in Nursing, earning her degree in 1975. Jill furthered her education by completing a master's degree at Southern New Hampshire University. Her distinguished career in nursing began with many positions with different institutions throughout the Upper Valley. Her first hospital position was at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in White River Junction, culminating in her role as Chief Nursing Officer and Director of Community Health at Mt. Ascutney Hospital in Windsor, VT. Jill spent a short time working at Bayada Hospice in Norwich, VT, retiring 2024.

Jill married Lary White Lord in 1989 in Cornish, where they made their home. Together, they shared a life full of love, joy, and devotion.

Jill's life was marked by her roles as a devoted daughter, sister, mother, wife, "Grammy," nurse, and friend. Her love for God, her family, and her friends was boundless and deeply felt. She cherished her husband Lary, her children and their spouses, and especially her grandchildren. She also held dear her sisters, the McKenzie and Flanagan families, and her countless friends. Jill was known for her passionate and limitless love for those in her life, and she was profoundly grateful for their reciprocal love and support.

With a deep sense of awe for God's creation and miracles, Jill found joy in serving others and embraced life's challenges with grace and resilience. Her faith in God's love, forgiveness, and healing was unwavering, and she viewed her life as a blessing and a source of blessing for others.

Jill was a daughter, sister, mother, wife, grammy, worker, nurse and friend in this life. She loved her God, her husband  Lary, her children, their spouses and grandchildren Melody, Edina, Jeremiah, Katlyn, Ella,  Avery, Justin, Kasha, Luke, Jake, Brian, Brandon, Lyndsie, Logan, Darrin, Holly, Cayley, Isabella, Beth, Matt, Jackie, Owen,  Jack, her  sisters and their families Jan, Ann, Gail and Lynn, the Mckenzie and Flanagan clans, her countless friends (YOU  know  who YOU  are because she told you she loved you) and co- workers  passionately and  without limit all her life. Jill was grateful for their love.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, August 23, from 5-7 PM at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, VT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Saturday, August 24, at 10 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor, VT, with a reception to follow in the church hall. Jill will be laid to rest later that day at Wells Cemetery in Canaan, NH.
