White River Jct., VT – Jerry Hersey Lovejoy, 88, went home to be with his Lord on July 1, 2015. He was born on February 25, 1927 in Gardner, MA the son of Harry and Harriet (Hersey) Lovejoy.
Jerry grew up on a farm as a boy. He loved all animals, especially horses and dogs. As a young man he joined the Army and served in Germany at the end of World War II. After leaving the Army he worked as a carpenter, building many houses in Massachusetts and Vermont. He also drove heavy equipment most of his life. He met and fell in loved with his wife, Melvena "Nena" Braley while receiving her homemaker skill working for the Visiting Nurses Association. He said, "It was love at first sight." It wasn't long before they were wed. He enjoyed his wife's baking, especially chocolate Coconut Cream Pie and Brownies. Later in life he enjoyed jig-saw puzzles, reading mysteries, and watching "The Price is Right", John Wayne Movies, and "Columbo". He always looked forward to the mailman's arrival and receiving the catalogs he would bring, reading them thoroughly, page by page. Everybody loved Jerry's smile and his sense of humor. He always said, "You can't live in this world without a sense of humor." Jerry had a heart of gold and was loved by all. In later life he accepted the Lord Jesus into his heart and is now at home with his Heavenly Father. We miss you and love you. See you at the heavenly gates.
