White River Jct., VT – Jean Ann Wilcox, 74, died Friday morning, December 5, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born one of seven children on September 10, 1940 in Lebanon, NH the daughter of Harley A. and Velma Mae (Sanborn) Dudley. Jean grew up in Lebanon, NH and graduated from Lebanon High School. She married Ernest F. Wilcox, February 28, 1959 in White River Jct., VT. They made their home in Hartford Village for a time before moving to Lower Hyde Park in the early 1970s where they have resided ever since. Jean stayed home with their two daughters until they reached school age, when she went to work at the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River Jct. Her career lasted over 30 years there retiring as a Laboratory Secretary in 2002.
Jean enjoyed playing bingo and traveling to the casino's where she wore out the one arm bandits. Jean loved birds and had a pet parrot named "Sammy". Most of all Jean loved her cat "Maggie".
She is predeceased by a sister Eloise Bristol.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-five years; two daughters, Lori J Couitt and her husband Clayton of West Hartford, VT, and Leslie J. Creamer and her husband William of Woodsville, NH; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren; three sisters, Marjorie Locke of Tucson, AZ, Shirley Martin of Lebanon, NH, Mary Camber of White River Jct., VT; two brothers, Donald Dudley of Clearwater, FL, Frank Dudley of Colchester, VT, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday afternoon and evening, Dec. 10, from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., Vermont. A graveside service will be held at a later date in the springtime in the Christian Street Cemetery in Wilder, VT.
