Jean Marie Mears Mahoney passed Sunday, August 29, 2021 after a brief illness. She was surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Brattelboro, VT on November 1, 1944, and grew up in Fort Drummer.
She spent time working at Margolins and her Aunt Irene's Ellenburg Depot Diner. Jean raised and cared for 10,000 chickens when living on "The Farm" in Connecticut. She cooked Sunday dinners for family who would regularly gather. She enjoyed fishing at Sunset Lake, made the BEST grilled cheese, French toast and deviled eggs. She was a loyal New England Patriots fan, loved a good yard sale and was a fierce POGO player. She happily volunteered at Turning Point & The Drop In Center. She loved and lived for her family. She will be missed.
She was predeceased by her mother and stepfather, Marie & Joseph A. Nebelski, Sr., her father, Russell Mears, brothers, Russel Mears, Nicholas Nebelski, Joseph A. Nebelski, Jr., sister, Tina Mears Manning Rudolph and stepbrother, Michael Freitas.
She is survived by her son, Michael; daughter, Tammy Mahoney; grandchildren, Blake Vonasek, David Mahoney, Jamie Mahoney, Mikaelie Lee; and great grandchildren, Ethan & Logan Vonasek. She also leaves her sister, Pat Shepard; brothers, Alan, Doug, Kevin, Greg, Dana, and Scott Mears; step brother, Dave Freitas; and many nieces and nephews.
In keeping with her wishes there will be no service. A celebration of her life will be at a later date due to COVID-19 risks.
