Fostoria, Ohio - Jean Catherine Copley, 94, died peacefully on Friday, Feb. 16, 2018 at her daughter's home in White River Jct., Vermont. She was born July 1, 1923 in Youngstown, Ohio the daughter of John R. "Hap" and Marie E. (Wem) Hall.
Jean grew up in Toledo, Ohio and then later moved to Fostoria, Ohio. She was married to James R. Copley on July 26, 1954. Mr. Copley died this past November 11, 2017. Shortly after his passing Jean moved to White River Jct., Vermont to live with her daughter.
Jim and Jean's home in the country was often the center for joyful gatherings, reunions and parties and they were delightful hosts. Jean was a devoted member of the New Hope Church in Wayne, OH.
Jean was a gifted dancer. As a child, she danced tap and performed in costumes created by her mother. She taught ball room dancing as a young adult and loved dancing all her life. Jean's father, a golf instructor, moved from Youngstown to Toledo to manage Heather Downs golf course and worked as a golf pro for many years. Since Jean had easy access to the course, she became a skilled golfer at a young age and played golf for decades.
She was predeceased by her husband, a daughter, Pamela Dunn, a brother, John Raymond "Ray" Hall Jr. and a sister Ada Virginia "Ginny" Fritsch.
Jean is survived by her daughters Tighe (Kurt) Yovanoff of Fort Collins CO and Dianne (Todd Arbogast) Copley of White River Junction VT; grandchildren Jennifer (Gilbert) Yeh of New York City NY, Brenna (David) Graham of Denver CO, Madalyn Yovanoff of Philadelphia PA, Rachel (James Laplante) Arbogast of Springfield VT and Andrew Dunn of New York City NY; great grandchild Tirion Yeh; a sister Margaret M. "Peggy" Wampler; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Following her cremation, a committal service will be held at a later date at Restlawn Cemetery in Perrysburg, Ohio.
