Wilder, VT — Jean E. Colburn, 86, died peacefully at her home on Monday, December 16, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Jean was born on March 26, 1938, in Lebanon, NH, the daughter of Edwin and Margaret (Miller) Bunnell. She graduated from high school in 1956. Later that year, on November 19, 1956, she married Robert Colburn in a charming little church in West Canaan, NH. They started their life together in Canaan, before moving to Wilder in 1975, where they continued to build a home full of love and memories.
Jean worked as a cashier at Finast Grocery Store in Lebanon, NH, and later at the Holiday Inn in White River Junction and IGA in West Lebanon, NH. She was a hard worker and valued member of her community.
Known for her love of word puzzles and her unbeatable skill at cribbage, Jean was often the reigning champion at her table. Friends and family would eagerly challenge her, only to leave having been bested by her expert hand. Jean also had a deep love for her cats, Cleo and Buddy, who were her cherished companions.
She is predeceased by her husband, Robert Colburn, Sr. Jean leaves behind a son, Robert Colburn, Jr., of Wilder; a daughter, Lori Billian, of South Strafford; and many other caring family members.
A private graveside service will take place at Christian Street Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
