Thetford Center, VT - Janice Thibodeau, 93, died Thursday evening, August 11, 2022, at her daughter's home in Thetford, Vermont.
Janice was born in April of 1929 in East Granville, Vermont, a daughter of Nelson and Bessie (Sayer) Bell. Janice attended school in Granville before her family moved to Randolph when she was a teenager. Janice graduated from high school in Randolph and was married to Gordon Bennett in 1946. They settled in Quechee where they raised their family of nine children. Mr. Bennett died in 1983 after nearly 37 years of marriage. Janice was later remarried to Marcel Thibodeau in 1990. They lived in West Lebanon for a time and then in White River Junction until his death in 2006.
Mrs. Thibodeau loved taking care of her family and her home including cooking, gardening, and canning. In her free time she enjoyed creating beautiful needlework, especially crocheting, and she was a whiz at complicated puzzles.
Janice was predeceased by her husbands, Gordon and Marcel; two sons, Nelson and Michael Bennett; a daughter, Deborah Smith, and seven brothers and sisters.
She leaves a son Gordon "Buddy" Bennett Jr. (Cheryl) of White River Jct., daughters Gail Smith (David) of Thetford Center, Judith Robinson (George) of Sharon, Pamela Royce (Jerry) of Hereford, Arizona, Susan Rogers (Larry) of White River Jct., Vermont, and Cynthia Bennett of Phoenix, Arizona. She also leaves an impressive legacy of fifteen grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT Thursday, August 18 from 5-7pm. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11am with burial following in the Hilltop Cemetery in Quechee.
