Janice E. Ryan, 81, a resident of Reading, passed away Thursday afternoon, December 26, at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor.
She was born May 24, 1932 in St. Albans, VT the daughter of Harold F. and Marjorie (Wilder) Ovitt. She received her schooling in Burlington and Springfield, VT. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1951.
She was employed at the former Cone Blanchard Machine Tool Company in Windsor and later worked with the kitchen staff at the Gill Home in Ludlow. She most recently was a self employed housekeeper.
Mrs. Ryan was predeceased by her parents, her husband, William Ryan and one brother, Lawrence Ovitt.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathy Ryan of Springfield, VT and one son, David Ryan of Chester, VT, and one brother, Steve Ovitt of Reading, VT, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 4 at 1:00 PM at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor. The Rev. Curt Jensen and the Rev. Gail Jensen will officiate. Committal services will be held in the spring in the Brownsville Cemetery in West Windsor.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kathy Ryan at 80 Main Street, Apt #407, Springfield, VT 05156. The contributions will go to one of the groups who cared for Mrs. Ryan.
