White River Junction, VT – Janice Ackley, 83, died January 2, 2020 at Lebanon Center Genesis Eldercare in Lebanon, NH due to complications of a motor vehicle accident.
Jan was born September 10, 1936 in Windsor, VT a daughter of Russell and Pricilla (Gregg) Westney. She graduated from Stevens High School class of 1954 in Claremont, NH. She was married to Lowell Ackley of Reading, VT in 1955 until their divorce in 1958. Jan later met and was married to Armand "Bill" Roberts in 1999, and they were married until his death on April 16, 2007. Jan & Bill lived on a horse farm in Ascutney, VT, where they raised, trained and raced standardbred horses. Jan also worked as the night manager at Howard Johnson's where she was loved by her employees and customers until her retirement.
Jan enjoyed Shopping on the QVC Network and going to thrift shops to find that next deal and spending time with her daughter, grandsons and sister.
She is predeceased by her husband, Bill, and a brother, Daniel Westney and sisters-in-law, Joyce Olcott and Janet Abbott.
Jan is survived by a daughter, Debra Ackley, of Sharon, VT and her friend John Madden Jr.; three grandsons, Jean-luc Maynard of Enfield, NH, and Stephen and his wife, Yvette, and Marc-Andrè Maynard of Murrieta, CA; three step grandchildren; a sister, Faith Bushor and her husband Earl of Wilder, VT; a niece, Amanda Bushor; nephews, Tim Bushor and Craig Westney; dear friend, Wendy Henderson.
Calling hours will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction, Friday, January 17, from 6-8pm. A memorial will be held at a later date at the Kingdom Hall in Lebanon, NH. Burial will be in the Ascutneyville Cemetery at the convenience of the family at a later date.
