Wilder, Vermont- Janet L. Sorice, 60, died peacefully Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at her home.
Jan was born July 29, 1954 in Houston, Texas, the daughter of John S. and Helen (Fox) Sorice. She grew up in New Orleans, LA and later moved to Chappaqua, NY where she graduated from Horace Greeley High School in 1972. In 1989 Jan moved back east and eventually settled in the Upper Valley with her Alaskan dog Neka. Jan loved all things outdoors and could be found kayaking, hiking, skiing, and walking in all seasons and weather. She lived a full and busy life, including volunteering at the Hopkins Center, participating in a book club, teaching handicapped children to ski at Mt. Ascutney and working for the Arctic Institute. She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist congregation of the Upper Valley.
Jan is predeceased by her mother Helen Sorice. She is survived by her father John S. Sorice of Sleepy Hollow, NY; and two brothers John R. Sorice (Ann) of Pelham, NY and Michael L. Sorice of Vallejo, CA plus 4 nephews.
