SPRINGFIELD, VT
Janet M. Liberty, 85, a longtime resident of Springfield, passed away Sunday afternoon, September 20 at the Springfield Health and Rehabilitation Center in Springfield.
She was born May 20, 1930 in St. Johnsbury, VT the daughter of George R. and Doris Abbie (Wheaton) Moore. She received her schooling in St. Johnsbury and graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1948. She later attended the Community College of Vermont in Springfield. She married Henry N. Liberty in St. Johnsbury on November 11, 1951. Mrs. Liberty was employed at the Mental Health Services of Southeast Vermont in Springfield for many years until her retirement. She was an active member of the Ascutney Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed gardening, skiing and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mr. Liberty passed away in 1985. She was also predeceased by her sister, Nancy Ann Moore, one hour and a half before her own passing.
Survivors include one son, Paul M. Liberty and his wife, Ronna of Springfield, VT, one daughter, Susan L. Pinto and her husband, Jim of Williston, VT, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 30 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ascutney. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM with Bishop Mark Ostrom, officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow at the church. Burial and dedication of the grave will be held at 2:30 PM in the Passumpsic Cemetery in Waterford, VT.
