Jane Ellen Mesh

Windsor, VT - Jane Ellen Sisser Mesh passed away peacefully in the arms of her beloved partner, Jack Brooks, on May 1st, 2026, in her home.

Jane was a talented concert pianist but chose to become an RN where she could dedicate her life to helping others and save countless lives. She used her expertise as an RN to help her family, working in several local hospitals in the Windsor VT and New Jersey areas and various other hospitals all over the country.

Jane had a fiery redhead zest for adventure, she caught the travel bug early in life from her family, owners of Sisser Bros Moving in Somerville, NJ. Jane was given the gift of traveling to every state in the continental U.S. with her partner Jack and also obtained her CDL license to drive a semi with her son, Stephen.

That ‘zest’ contributed to her love for skiing, especially with her friend Marilyn, a love of the ocean and other natural waterways, gambling, attending Broadway shows and a passion for plants and flowers. That passion led to Jane opening her own plant store called “Earth n Wares” in the 1970’s.

Some of Jane's favorite pastimes throughout life included watching her daughters, Elizabeth and Virginia, play sports, taking long drives, playing music, doing puzzles and sitting on the front porch or back deck with countless family and friends.

Jane is survived by her partner, Jack Brooks, her 3 beloved children and their spouses Stephen and Carolyn Mesh, Elizabeth Mesh and Sam Johnsen and Virginia (Aevya) Mesh and Fred Harris. She has 4 wonderful grandchildren, Hannah (Mesh) Fleming, John Mesh, Eve Mesh and Dahrian Harris-Mesh, along with her great grandson Sylas Fleming and dear friend Marilyn Bunker.

A memorial for Jane will be held on May 21, 2026, between 6-8pm at Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, VT.
