Hartland, VT- Jamison Gardner O'Neil, 35, of Hartland, VT passed away August 9, 2025, as a result of a car accident. His daughter, Charlie, was born August 10, 2025. He would have been the best girl-dad ever.

Jamison was born May 2, 1990 to Carey (Guthrie) and John O'Neil of White River Jct., VT. He was the youngest of three loving brothers (not always loving at times). Jamison was always tall for his age and was forever competing with the older kids, which led to numerous ER visits. We used to say he was stitched, stapled, and glued together.

Jamison was a product of the Hartford School system. As a kindergartner, he was nicknamed "JAMO" by the three other kids at his table- Jamison was too much of a mouthful for 5 years olds. The name stuck, much to the chagrin of his mother. Jamison graduated from Hartford High School in 2008.

He was a proud member of the basketball team and the 2007 Division 1 state championship football team. Jamison graduated from Nichols College in 2012 with a B.S. in business. While at Nichols, Jamison was instrumental in transitioning Nichols rugby from a club sport to a recognized NCAA team. He was known to be a relentless, sometimes obnoxious, player. Jamison was always a competitor, whether it was basketball with his brothers and friends on the street, to basketball coach at Hartford Middle School or as a paintball player with his boys from Colchester.

Jamison's work history was long and varied. Starting out at Bob's service center as a 15-year-old (we think he lied to Bob that he had a license), to selling appliances at Sears, to JJ Nissen's to Aflac insurance, to Pinnacle Properties, to Cura Properties, then to UPS with his brothers. He also did part-time work for Big Fatty's and with his longtime boys at Lull's Brook. He finally found his true calling as a special education teacher at the Wilder School in the Hartford School District. He may have been unconventional, but he connected with his students and the faculty. Wherever he worked he was an important piece in the camaraderie of the workplace.

In 2011, he met his soulmate, Katherine (Katie) Walsh. We're not sure she was too impressed with him at first, but he just had that quality that you couldn't help but love him eventually. Katie & Jamison were the quintessential couple. They completed each other. They didn't compete with each other, they complimented each other. Jamison and Katie initial wedding plan was canceled by covid, so they just said same time same place next year. They were married in November of 2021. To know them was to know their love for each other. It just radiated between them.

Jamison is survived by his loving wife, Katie, his precious daughter, Charlie, his parents, Carey & John, his brother Joseph (Sonya) his brother, John (Brittany Stark), nieces and nephews, Austin, Logan, Ethan, Kylie and Maxx. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Ellen Walsh brother-in-law Dillon Walsh, sister-in-law Erin Walsh.

There are too many aunts, uncles, cousins, and loved ones to list but there is a certain group that were more like brothers and sisters than cousins. He was always your sweet, goofy, little-big brother. A special mention his mother's best friend, Aunt Mary, who named him. There are also so many friends that he treated as brothers and sisters- you know who you are.

Thank you, Upper Valley, and beyond. This community has a lot of heart. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Jamison's Best Girls Katie and Charlie Fund in care of Mascoma Bank.
