Obituary

James Albert Sheehan of Sharon went home peacefully to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of December 26, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

James was born on August 6, 1939 along with his twin brother, Robert Lawrence, to Warren and Gladys

(Sheehan) Sheehan in Cambridge MA.  After high school, Jim worked in food service in the White Mountain resorts of New Hampshire.  Later, he felt a calling to the Lord and entered the Order of Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in Tewksbury MA and was a Brother for over 25 years.  During his tenure as "Brother Jim", he obtained an Associate's Degree in Food Service Administration from the Erie County Community College in Buffalo NY.  He taught cooking at Bishop Newman High School in Buffalo NY and developed food service programs in underserved populations for the Oblates in schools and parishes in Washington DC, Florida, and South Carolina.

After leaving the Oblates, Jim continued his career in executive food management at Tewksbury State Hospital, 133 Market,  Irish-American Club in Billerica MA, and Rivier College in Nashua NH.  Jim astounded everyone with his ability to organize, plan, schedule and coordinate large group gatherings overseeing thousands of meals throughout his career.  He was a member and past president of the Food Service Executives Association, Boston Branch.

Jim was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and also was very active in Gay and HIV programs in the South Eastern region of New Hampshire.

In 2000, Jim moved to Sharon VT to live with his friend, Galen Mudgett Jr.  While in the Upper Valley, he worked in the dining hall of Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and in the men's department of JC Penney, where he was an immaculate dresser.

Jim was an active member of St Anthony's Church in White River Jct VT.  He was an also an active member of the Knights' of Columbus Councils in Nashua NH and in White River Jct VT.  He was a past District Deputy serving the councils in Bethel, Northfield, Norwich University, Randolph, and White River Jct.  During his tenure, he helped organize the Charles H Phillips Council in Randolph.

Jim was happiest when he was with family and friends—always the consummate host with wonderful gatherings, especially during the Christmas holiday season.  The food he prepared was always fantastic and the presentation most memorable. Jim will be remembered by all those who loved him for his infectious smile, laughter, and his jitterbug moves on the dance floor.

Jim is survived by his long time devoted partner and best friend, Galen Mudgett Jr of Sharon VT; his brothers, Richard and wife, Lois, of Tewksbury MA and Myrtle Beach SC; and Kevin and wife Elizabeth, of Alton Bay NH; sister-in-law, Audrey Sheehan of Portsmouth NH; aunt, Margaret Sheehan of Wells ME and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins and the extended Mudgett family.   Jim was predeceased by his parents, his twin brother, Robert, and brothers, Raymond and Warren, sister, Mary Wolfe, and nephew, Brendan Wolfe.

The family is forever grateful to the Nursing Staff of Menig Nursing Home in Randolph Center VT for the loving care provided to Jim for the past four years and the staff of the Bugbee Senior Center of White River Jct prior to his admittance to Menig.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory can be made to the Menig Nursing Home Activity Fund, 215 Tom Wicker Ln, Randolph Center VT 05061 or Bugbee Senior Center, 262 N Main St White River Jct VT 05001.
