New London, NH - James Ivan Shain, of Brooklyn, New York, passed away on June 29, 2024, at 58 years of age. Jim graduated from Stuyvesant High School. He received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Vermont and Master of Science from Dartmouth College in computer science. He lived his adult life in the Connecticut River Upper Valley. For much of his professional career, Jim was a programmer at Dartmouth College and taught computer science classes for the Community College of Vermont. Jim leaves loving family and friends including his wife, son and daughter.

A memorial service is planned for 11am on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Upper Valley at 320 US Route 5, Norwich, VT 05055.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Open Fields School in Thetford, Vermont.
