WINDSOR, VT
James A. Rice, 53, a resident of Windsor, passed away Monday evening, January 11 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
He was born October 30, 1962 in St. Albans, VT the son of Gary and Kay (Weld) Rice. He received his schooling in Berkshire, VT and Walpole, NH and attended Hartford High School. He married Tina Griswold in Plainfield, NH in 1987 and they were later divorced. James was employed as a driver trucker for Webster Transportation in Harrisburg, PA for many years. He moved to Windsor in 2009 where he drove for Irving Oil and most recently for Percy Nott Trucking of Hartford until his declining health made him unable to work.
He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and many friends.
Survivors include his parents, Gary and Kay Rice of Windsor, one son, Eric Rice of Harrisburg, PA, one brother, Jeffrey Rice of Sharon, VT, one sister, Rhonda Rice of Windsor, one grandnephew, Griffin Holzworth of Windsor, one stepson, Joe Trench and one stepdaughter, Randa Lamoyne and her husband, Jeff, all of Harrisburg, PA, three step grandchildren, one aunt and uncle, Colleen and Roger Doyon of Hempstead, NH, cousins, nieces and nephews, and a very special friend, Judy Thibideau of Hartland.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 16 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at the Knight Funeral Home at 903 Hartford Avenue in White River Jct., VT. The memorial service will begin at 1:00 PM, with the Rev. William Sheldon officiating. Committal services will be held in the spring.
