James Adam Murrell

James Adam Murrell, 40, of Derby, Vermont, passed away unexpectedly on February 5, 2026. 

Born on November 27, 1985, in Conroe, Texas, to Randy Murrell and Cindy Tirey, Adam was known for his kindness, charisma, and genuine love for people. He had a natural way of making others feel welcome, treating friends like family from the moment he met them. He had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and genuinely cared for, and everyone who spent time with him knew they mattered. 

Adam honorably served in the United States Marine Corps, carrying that experience with pride throughout his life. He went on to work in many roles over the years and most recently served as a security officer for the Vermont State Prison. In every position, he brought the same steady presence and determination that defined him long before and long after his service. 

He enjoyed spending time on his computer, playing games, enjoying Magic: The Gathering, attending LARP events, and going to conventions. Through these passions, he built lifelong friendships and a wide circle of people who loved him deeply. 

He is survived by sons, Thor and Logan; parents, Randy Murrell, step-Mother Carrie Murrell, and mother, Cindy Tirey; siblings, Buck Murrell, Jason Murrell, Marti Murrell, Amanda James, Michelle Milam, Jabe Milam, and Anna Cespedes; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a large adopted family of friends. 

A memorial service will be held at Jesus Reigns Fellowship in Cottontown, Tennessee, on Saturday, February 28th from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
