Quechee, VT- James Russell Luce, II, 23, died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

James was born February 16, 2000, in Lebanon and was raised in Quechee by his Mim, Kimber Luce. He attended schools in Hartford and for a time the Kindle Farm School in Newfane, VT before graduating from Hartford High School in 2018. James worked as a landscaper and painter around the Upper Valley.

James developed a great appreciation for the outdoors as a young boy, hunting and fishing with Daniel Fernandes. He was a talented hunter and fisherman and loved to wear anything camo.  If he was not out in the woods or on the riverbanks fishing, he could be found bridge jumping or just taking in the beauty of nature.  James had many close friends including his sister Sierra Theriault and his mentors, Jim Dow and Sue Buckholz who loved him as a son of their own.

James is survived by his Mim, Kimber Luce of Quechee, VT, his great-grandparents James and Janice Luce of Palmer, AK, several siblings, cousins, aunts, and uncles. He will be greatly missed by his sweet dog, Zesh.

A celebration of James's life will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Hilltop Cemetery in Quechee at the convenience of the family.
