Norwich , VT - James F. "Jim" Jacobson, 84, died January 12, 2020, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.

Jim was born September 21, 1935, in Jamestown, NY, a son of John F. and Katharine (Hewes) Jacobson. After graduating in the Jamestown High School class of 1953, he married Irene (Sue) Selfridge in 1956 and had five children. He worked a long career at IBM, servicing typewriters and then computers in Pittsfield, MA, and Lexington, KY, and he moved to Norwich in 1969 to continue servicing machines in Vermont and New Hampshire. In the early 1990's, he met his longtime friend, Mary Ellen Kreider, and spent the rest of his life with her.

Jim enjoyed playing with tech gadgets, telling jokes, listening to classical music, sharing his knowledge of astronomy and how things worked, attending the IBM retiree lunches, and talking about the NY Rangers. He loved computers, photography, solar power, his Tesla, and most of all his grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother John Jacobson, Jr. and a sister Joan Scott.

He is survived by his longtime companion Mary Ellen Kreider of Norwich, VT, and his children: Kathie Jacobson of Oakland, CA, Robert Jacobson of Hartford, VT, Rodney & Siobhan Jacobson, Cynthia & James Faughnan, and Amy & William Nartowicz of Norwich, VT. His grandchildren: Tom Faughnan, Erica & Jason Bosse, Ethan & Reuben Goldberg, Danielle & Ashley Jacobson, Gavin & Keira Nartowicz, and Persephone Jacobson. Also, several cousins, a niece, and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held in the Hillside Cemetery in Norwich at the convenience of the family.
