James Campbell, 77, died Saturday October 30, 2021, at home with his family.

He was born September 12, 1944, in Hanover, NH a son of Maynard and Jeanette (Lamphere) Campbell. Jim graduated from Hartford High School class of 1963, the last graduating class from what is now the White River Elementary School. He served in the US Air Force from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1968. Following his military service Jim began work at Gateway Motors in the recon department and continued there for thirty years finishing up as head of parts, service and autobody. After his time at Gateway, Jim went to work at RSD Transportation as director of maintenance and worked there until recently when his health prevented him from working any longer.

Jim's family would like to thank everyone from Bayada Hospice for the wonderful care he received over the past several weeks.

Jim loved cars, especially corvettes and auto racing. He was a member of several local race teams and was an avid NASCAR fan, having attended nearly every NASCAR track. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, boating, golfing, and hunting, particularly duck hunting. Jim was a member of Ducks Unlimited, the Hartford Rod and Gun Club, the White River Lions, where he served as treasurer for many years and a life member of the Elks.

He is survived by his wife, Maura Clarke; son Michael Campbell (Sonya) of Hanover, NH; grandson Bryce Campbell (Emaline Hilliker) of Colchester, VT; stepchildren Bronagh Palkin (Igor) and Seamus Morrissey (Jennifer) and their children Caitlin and Niamh Morrisey all of Indianapolis, IN.

A visitation will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., Thursday November 4th from 5-7PM. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Friday November 5 ^th at 11am. Committal will take place at a later date in the Vermont Veteran's Cemetery.
