White River Jct., VT- Jacqueline Evonne Johnson Jacobs passed away at her home in White River Junction on Sunday, May 3, 2026, with her family close by. Jackie was born in Hanover, NH on August 28, 1927, daughter of Nelson Peterson Johnson and Katharine Bagley Johnson. She attended schools in White River Junction, VT, West Lebanon and Franklin, NH and Wilfred Academy (hairdressing school) in Boston, MA.

She married Leonard Jacobs of White River Junction on June 5, 1949, and the couple lived in the same home in White River Junction until the end of both of their lives. Jackie worked as a hairdresser at the Vanity Beauty Shoppe for six years, until purchasing the shop, which she owned and managed for close to 40 years. In the early 1970’s she moved her shop to her home. After closing her business, she cared for her mother. Upon her mother’s death, she enjoyed her work at Blood’s Seafood and Catering.

Jackie was always a very active member of the Methodist Church in White River Junction, being a working member of many groups and committees, including suppers, fund raising events and holiday bazaars. At one time, she and Leonard and three other couples decided they would clean the church and Parish House every Monday morning to help the budget. In the last few years of her life, she enjoyed attending the Greater Hartford United Church of Christ.

Jackie was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s group when she was a business owner. She worked at blood drives for the Red Cross for many years and was a member of the Thomas Chittenden Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, as well as a member of the Legion Auxiliary. She and Leonard were also members of the Camera Club in Hanover, led by Larry McDonald (a former photographer for the Valley News), and spent many weekends traveling the back roads of New England searching for the perfect photo. She and Leonard also traveled all over the eastern seaboard with a fellow Navy shipmate couple from North Carolina, planning many reunions of the 1056, one of the ships Leonard was assigned to during his time in the Navy. They attended the reunions for thirty or more years, until the group became too small, due to declining health of the members.

Jackie was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Leonard, an infant daughter, Mary Ellen Jacobs; her sister, Joyce Gray Caswell; brothers-in law, Harold Gray, James Caswell and Stuart Jacobs; brother, Nelson (Sonny) Johnson and his wife, Brenda Johnson; Sister-in-law, Pauline Foley; a nephew, Donnie Gray, a niece, Betty-Ann McCullough and a great nephew, Kyle Gray.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Johnson and grandson, Brandon Johnson, and her beloved “Grand-dogs”, Fenway, Harper and Slash; Brother-in-Law, Leon Jacobs, Jr. (Doris), Sister-in-law, Anzi Jacobs, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Adam Schwarz and the staff of the Hanover Continuity Clinic, Dr. Konstantin Dragnev and the staff at the Dartmouth Health Cancer Center, and the Bayada Hospice staff for their care of Jackie.
