WHITE RIVER JCT – Jack Keller Paronto, 82, died Wednesday June 9th at home after a long illness. He was born on December 11, 1927 in Eden, Vermont, the son of Howard and Alice Brown Paronto.
He married Cecelia Catherine Farrell Flynn on November 8, 1952 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in White River Jct. She predeceased him on November 18, 1989.
Mr. Paronto worked at the area woolen mills for many years, and later for the Central Vermont Railroad as a Brakeman.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on his farm, with its extensive vegetable gardens and many animals. Jack loved living in the country along the White River, and had travelled abroad to both Scotland and Hawaii, visiting his daughter and son-in-law, who was in the US Navy.
Survivors include two daughters, Ramona Flynn Diette of Gales Ferry, CT and Janet Flynn Robie of Barre, VT; 8 grandchildren, Kelly Diette, Julie Diette Way, Patrick Diette, Mark Roy, Michael Roy, Peter Diette, Shannon Roy Hartnett and Shauna Roy Wolf; 27 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, a sister, Arta "Pete" Gramling of Woodstock, VT, two nephews, Ward Paronto Jr. and Eric Paronto, a niece, Nadine Hodgdon, and his close friend Jennifer Emmons. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Ward H. Paronto, Sr. and Frank Paronto.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in White River Jct. at 10:00am on Saturday, June 12th. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. His family will greet relatives and friends in the church hall following the burial.
