Cornish, N.H. On May 1 st , 2021, Jacalyn Joy Thayer, loving wife, mother, and nurse passed away at the age of 68. She grew up in Cornish, NH and graduated Windsor Vermont high school in 1970. She married the love of her life Douglas Charles Thayer on May 8 th , 1982. She graduated N.H. Vocational College in 1971 and leaped right into her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She started working at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital on September 7 th , 1971. This was the old hospital before the move to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. In her career she totaled 35 years in patient pediatrics, then 15 years in the pediatric-clinic. She enjoyed helping kids doing everything in her power to make them comfortable and smile. She had the most contagious smile that could infect everyone around her. Jackie enjoyed sewing, gardening, and making her famous tooth fairy pillows for kids. She loved making her own festive scrubs and must have had one for every holiday. She loved the simple things in life like reading a book on the beach and watching her favorite detective shows. Jackie was involved in the Cornish Garden Club and loved spending time planting flowers around town to keep it perfect. A story many have never heard is that when Jackie and Doug were trying to adopt they heard about a child that was not born yet that might be up for adoption in the end of August 1995. Jackie prayed that if it was meant to be the child would be born on her work anniversary (September 7 th ), it was at that time they received the call that Matthew was born on September 7 th .

A great Mom, coworker, and friend. She will be missed, but never forgotten.

She is predeceased by her husband Douglas Thayer who died  January 8 th , 2021.

She is survived by son Matthew Thayer, and her favorite crazy puppy "Smudge"

A joint service will be announced at a future date.
