"Sue" Jacobson
July 21, 1936 – March 12, 2014
Norwich, Vermont – Irene Mae "Sue" Jacobson, 77, died early Wednesday morning, March 12, at the Brookside Nursing Home in White River Jct., VT. She was born July 21, 1936 in Jamestown, NY the daughter of Paul and Frances (Bilbe) Selfridge. Sue grew up and attended schools in Jamestown, NY. After high school graduation she attended Keuka College in Keuka Park, NY. She married James Jacobson in 1956. She moved from Jamestown, NY to Pittsfield, MA, Lexington, KY, and finally Norwich, VT in 1969. Along with raising her own children, Sue also provided a home for several foster children. Her love of animals lead her to raise puppies for the Guide Dog Foundation. Sue enjoyed traveling with her family on vacations and loved the time spent at barbeques and big family dinners. She kept a beautiful flower garden.
She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Klein. Sue is survived by two sons, Robert Jacobson of Norwich, VT, Rodney Jacobson of Lebanon, NH, three daughters, Cynthia Faughnan of Norwich, VT, Amy Nartowicz of Norwich, VT, Kathie Jacobson of Oakland, CA, nine grandchildren, a brother, Gordon Selfridge of Rosewood, CA and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday, March 16, from 1 to 2PM followed by a memorial service at 2PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT. Memorial contributions maybe made to The Upper Valley Haven, 745 Hartford Ave., White River Jct., VT. 05001.
