Irene "Bebe" Mary Brockway
Quechee, Vermont – Irene "Bebe" Mary Brockway, 93, died peacefully Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at her home in Quechee, VT. She was born on April 3, 1922 in Andover, Massachusetts the daughter of Ralph and Florence (Baker) Packard.
Irene graduated from Hartford High School in 1940. She was married to Daniel Brockway on August 21, 1948 in Quechee, VT. She worked for Harris Emery Company sewing finished goods. She also worked for a time for the Music Album in White River Jct., VT. Irene also volunteered at the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River Jct., for many years
She was a member of the Quechee Community Church and the church choir for seventy-four years. Irene was a past member of the Sunshine Hill Club, the Hartford Historical Society and the Quechee Cemetery Committee.
Irene loved all animals and had a special way with pets and wild animals.
She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel, who died August 8, 1976. She was also predeceased by five brothers, Robert, Kingston, Earl, Kenneth and Richard Packard, two sisters, Doris Cox and Helen Myers.
She is survived by two sons, David Brockway and his wife Heather, of Quechee, VT, Dale Brockway and his wife Maureen also of Quechee, VT, four grandchildren, Holli Young, Stephen Brockway, Daniel Brockway and Brent Brockway, two great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Claire Packard as well as many nieces and nephews.
At Irene's request there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 21st, at 3PM in the Hilltop Cemetery in Quechee, VT.
