Windsor, VT – Ina Haas, 104, died on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in Windsor, VT.
She was born on October 31, 1921, in Midland Park, NJ to Rudolph and Hilda (Siersma) Bokma and attended the Midland Park schools. For many years she worked as a clerk for the United States Postal Service; she enjoyed the work directly assisting community members with their mail in a career that helped her support her family as a single mom. In 1972 she married Richard Haas; together they enjoyed spending summer weekends at their lake house on Beaver Lake where family and friends would often gather. They enjoyed traveling internationally as well as within the United States. She also helped to take care of her mother who lived to the age of 100, and after both their deaths she moved to Ascutney, VT in 2001 to be closer to her children. She loved Vermont and soon made many friends in her new community and lived at her home in Ascutney until the age of 100, when she transitioned to Evarts House in Windsor, her home for the next 4 years.
Ina was an extremely talented seamstress, knitter, and rug hooker, loved to tend her flower and tomato gardens during the warm months of the year, and often spent days antiquing with friends and family looking for the next addition to her expansive collections.
She is survived by three children Jack Mulder and wife Pam of Salisbury, NH, James Mulder and wife Suzan of Reading, VT, and Sharon Kuiken and husband Bill of West Windsor, VT; a niece Barbara Lengen of Fair Lawn, NJ; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister Evelyn Ruth Yuhas.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 10 am at the Ascutney Union Church followed by interment in the Sheddsville Cemetery in Brownsville, VT. Ina’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Evarts House for their care and compassion, especially Patti, Dale, Erica, and Den. Please consider making a memorial donation in her memory to Evarts House, checks made payable to Historic Homes of Runnemede, 40 Maxwell Perkins Lane, Windsor, VT 05089.
