Obituary

Hildegard Irma (Spie) Boyd passed away peacefully on April 8, 2021 at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Hilde was born on August 17, 1934, in Berlin, Germany, the daughter of Irma and August. She lost both of her parents at a young age during the war. After learning to take care of herself during a difficult time in her country, she met her first husband and traveled to Thetford, Vermont. During her first marriage she had one son, Ralph Eaton, and two daughters, Sylvia (Eaton) Bingham and Heidi (Eaton) Hester. After her divorce, Hilde met George Thomas Boyd Jr., and they would go on to wed on October 9, 1971 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hilde and George moved from Vermont to George's home state of Texas where they had two daughters, Nancy (Boyd) Witkowski and Stephanie (Boyd) Eiane. After settling down in Austin for many years, they returned to White River Junction, Vermont, where they would go on to spend the rest of their years. George and Hilde would go on to be wed for 40 years until his death in 2011.

Hilde worked as an in-home caregiver, as well as owned her own cleaning service that served a few different areas in White River Junction, Vermont, most notably at the Hartford Police Department. She will always be known for her love of gardening, cooking, cleaning, bird watching and spending time with her family. Her sense of independence, hard-working nature and caring outlook will be passed down in her children and grandchildren. She will be missed greatly.

Hilde is predeceased by her husband, George, who she missed terribly after his death as well as her daughter Heidi Hester.

She is survived by her children, Nancy Witkowski and her husband Randy of Thetford, Vermont, Stephanie Eiane of Concord, New Hampshire, Ralph Eaton and his wife Dawn of Oklahoma, Silvia Bingham of Arizona and Veronika Rosenkranz and her husband Ulrich of Germany; six grandchildren Courtney Boyd, Stephen and Rachel Witkowski, and Elsa, Claire and Julia Eiane.

A graveside service will be held in the Vermont Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center, VT at a later date in the spring.
