IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Herbert "Herb"
H. Barbour
January 28, 1970 – January 3, 2023
Reading, Vermont – Herbert "Herb" H. Barbour died Tuesday, January 3, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. He would have celebrated his 53 rd birthday in a few weeks on the 28 th of January. He was born one of four sons to Dennis H. and Patricia Ann (Maxham) Barbour.
Even as a young boy, Herb, knew the meaning of hard work. It was said he was born with a chainsaw in his hands but actually he didn't start running a saw until he was eleven, helping cut firewood to sell and for the family farm in Reading. Herb worked the family farm his entire life, even during his adult years when he was holding down employment as a carpenter for Fay Hill Enterprises.
He marched to his own drum. Herb loved to sugar in early spring, grow his garden and fish in the summer, hunt during the fall and smoke some weed and drink anytime he felt like it.
He will be remembered for how much he enjoyed socializing with others, for his marvelous pot plants, camping trips on the family property in Chittenden, VT, winning $25,000 on a $10 dollar ticket, his Harley Davidson, his long hair and his absolute infatuation with fireworks. He loved shooting them off. It was said he blew himself up at least three different times and because he was so crazy about it, was actually banded from doing it anymore in the town of Reading.
Herb was predeceased by his mother and brother, Ernie Barbour. He is survived by his life partner and more recently during his fight with cancer, primary caregiver, Virginia "Missy" (Trombley) Cutting, two stepsons, Ajay Picknell of Reading, Dillon Cutting of Lebanon, NH, his father, Dennis H. Barbour Sr of Reading, VT, two brothers, Sidney J. Barbour of Ferrisburgh, VT, Dennis H. Barbour Jr of Reading, VT, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.
A life celebration will be held on his upcoming birthday, January 28, at 11am to 4pm at the Reading town Hall in Reading, VT.
